Why Swiss Army Knives are one of the best tools.

The Swiss Army Knife is one of the most recognizable knives around. Nearly everyone knows this classic design. The flat scales, the tools, and the utility earns it that recognition. Most recognize one of two Swiss Army Knives instantly the first is the small Cadet, usually seen on a keychain, and the full size Tinkerer. Both of these are great things to have with you in an emergency. But everyone is different and there are many things you should consider when choosing a SAK for yourself.

The Sizes

Most Swiss Army Knives come in 2 common sizes. The smaller 84mm is mostly smaller keychain sized SAKs while the larger 93mm size is used as more of a full sized offering. While the smaller sized SAK's come with a good selection of tools the larger ones offer typically larger and more versatile tools. Many would feel that for that alone the larger size is better, but the smaller sized ones are much easier to carry on you. The most useful knife is the one you have on you though so either are a good choice.

The Uses

The uses of a Swiss Army Knife is plentiful. The plethora of different tools you can get on your SAK makes it so almost anyone can find the perfect tool for them. Whatever tool you need can probably be found on at least one SAK. A knife for spreading cream cheese on your bagel, nail clippers for cutting your nails, a screwdriver to tighten the screws on that chair you hate that rattles. And if you really dont think you can find just one that will meet all your needs than perhaps what you really need is the Wenger 16999 Swiss Army Knife Giant, which is sure to have more tools than you can even think of.
